mg100dfx Been looking for the tremulant EP for years on vinyl! Couldn’t believe it was on sale here! eBay users are selling it for around $500 🤦‍♂️. When I heard “cut that city” for the first time in college I was hooked. Cedric and Omar are both genius. Not to take anything away from at the drive in but Mars Volta is on a Pink Floyd Latin jazz kinda level. Favorite track: Concertina.

about

2002's TREMULANT EP had much to accomplish within its three tracks and 19 minutes: to define the group’s ambitions and their possibilities, to sketch out a limitless horizon for their future adventures. The EP’s genre-emulsifying sprawl, segueing from splenetic punk-salsa pell-mell to meditative, dubbed-out drum machine symphonies with unerring confidence, announced The Mars Volta’s visionary new sound, an embryonic version of everything that would follow.

about

The Mars Volta El Paso, Texas

Leaving a creative impact and making an artistic statement has always been the motivation behind the collaboration of Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala. The duo has been making music together for nearly 30 years. During this time, the two of them have gone through a prime example of musical evolution: they never stood still, instead their art matured and grew steadily. ... more
